Cédric Courtois

Biography
Cédric Courtois graduated in 2008 as a Master in Communication Sciences (Ghent University). In October of that same year he joined MICT as a Junior Researcher. His current research interests fall under the broad umbrella of media consumption in a converging media landscape. In doing so, he pays special attention to the interplay of technology, content and context. Cedric is currently working on a PhD concerning the consumption of audiovisual media in a convergence context. This thesis includes an integration of the Theory of Media Attendance and Domestication Theory within the framework of a triple articulation of media technologies.
Furthermore, Cédric focuses on topics such as the disclosure of digital broadcasting archives, youth and new media and online prosuming. He is also responsible for the methodological support of numerous projects. Here, he always strives for an innovative application and integration of both quantitative and qualitative research techniques. This has led to numerous articles in international journals including New Media & Society, Cyberpsychology, Behavior & Social Networking, Journal of Computer-Mediated Communication and Behaviour & Information Technology.
From September 2011 Cédric will stay abroad at Twente University (Supervisor: prof. Jan van Dijk). Following, in February 2012, he will visit the University of Roskilde. In collaboration with prof. Kim Schrøder and with the support of the European COST network 'Transforming Audiences, Transforming Societies', a comparative research into the modalities of news consumption wil be set up.
