Biography

Steve Paulussen started to work as a researcher at the Department of Communication Sciences of Ghent University in 2000. After he received his PhD with a thesis on the impact of the Internet on journalism in 2004, he joined the IBBT research group for Media & ICT. As senior researcher he is involved in different projects that relate to issues of media production, media experience and media use in today’s  ‘convergence culture’ . His main research interests are in the field of journalism studies and (online) news production. Between 2006 and 2010, he participated in the FLEET project, an IWT-funded multi-disciplinary research project on digital news trends in Flanders, where he focused on issues of participatory journalism and newsroom convergence. Since 2010, he is involved in a large IWT-funded strategic project on 'user empowerment in a social media culture' (EMSOC) (www.emsoc.be).

Furthermore, Steve Paulussen is a member of the Center for Journalism Studies (CJS) at Ghent University and a part-time lecturer in journalism studies at the University of Antwerp and the Vrije Universiteit Brussel.
